My name is Sean Kim and I am from South Korea. I am junior and majoring in finance.
I first felt interest of Japan during my high school year. I went to a small boarding school in Boca Raton, Florida, and I had a japanese friend. He introduced and taught me many japanese cultures. Furthermore, delicious japanese foods and snacks were also big reasons that I have loved Japanese cultures. Every Friday dinner menu was Sushi and it became one of my favorite foods.
One day, he recommended me to watch a Japanese animation called One Piece.
This animation was originally from comic books which are about lives of pirates. Now One Piece became the most popular one even in Korea and I am a big fan of it, too. Readers consider Oda Eiichiro, the author of One Piece, as a genius since the scale of the story is gigantic and the story has not ended yet even it has more than 460 episodes.
As I face more Japanese cultures, I gain more confidence of going to Japan to see and feel of Japanese cultures directly with my skin. I want to know more about the country, JAPAN, thus, I decided to go studying abroad to Japan next year. I hope to learn a lot about Japan while taking this course.

Haha, One Piece is one of the better animes, I agree.
ReplyDeleteワンピースは とても popularですね。
ReplyDeleteOne Piece huh? I never really got in to it, and now that I'm so behind, I feel like I'm never going to catch up. However, I do stay up to date with Bleach and Naruto Shippuden among others
ReplyDeleteI watched the FourKids dubbed version of One Piece while it was still running on TV (only one season) my favorite character was Zoro.
ReplyDeleteコんばんわ! Attaboy. One Piece is excellent, even though it's hard to catch up if you get behind (like me haha).
ReplyDeleteYeah once I started reading One Piece I was a little too behind to catch up. But I definitely agree that sushi is one of the most delicious foods, and manga is a very good reason to learn japanese.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I've read one or two One Piece comics when I was in a middle school. I kinda wanna start reading from the beginning! I love Sushi, too!
ReplyDeleteI have actually read a little bit of the One Piece manga but also am too far behind to actually try to catch up. However, anime is also something that caused my interest in Japanese as well, so I can relate.
ReplyDeleteOne Piece is awesome!! A good friend of mine back home is a huge fan of the comic, and when I was in Japan I actually bought him a shirt that says "I will be King of the Pirates!" on the back, and I think it has a skull on the front. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that we are in the same class! I enjoyed your post. I saw my little bro go through book after book, finishing One Piece. Maybe I should read it when I find time! + lets go eat sushi oppa :)
ReplyDeleteこにちは!わたしは えどさん。わたしはよんえんせいのこるんびあだいがく。
ReplyDeleteOk, that was hard. But yeah, I go to Columbia University in NYC and we're blogging in japanese as well.
I was just browsing for a blog from another university to follow and BAM, I saw One Piece. One of my favorite anime to follow. SO good.
Glad to see you have such good taste. I look forward to speaking with you again.
